An idea for a Manual Dodge mechanic for Xenoverse 3!

I don't have a lot to say about said mechanic because I feel as though it would be pretty simple to implement. Anyway, the idea is to completely get rid of the just guard feature and replace it with a manual dodge system instead, it could work the same way as just guard too where timing is everything, you could even make it a high risk high reward type move where if you try to dodge someone's attack and fail you could take a certain amount of additional damage, whereas though if you actually train and master the mechanic, you can tire out your opponent as it has an increased chance of getting rid of your opponent's stamina, and this would make sense because in a real fight if you're being careless and attacking wrecklessly, you can easily tire yourself out, and this could be really bad if you couldn't even touch your opponent. We see this all the time in boxing, Floyd Mayweather for example does this perfectly, he spends most of his time being very evasive, even dishing out some counter attacks while he gets his opponent riled up and trying to attack him, then in the later rounds, they're exhausted and Floyd isn't even sweating. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this could be a good mechanic to have, Whaddya think??

Got the point but just to make it clear, how would you implement it on a gamepad?
You can keep a button pressed for the regular guard, but how would the manual dodge be managed?
